Ultimate Frisbee

All Kings Bay Sports are required to follow the policies and procedures set forth by Kings Bay Sports; these policies and procedures may be found on the website (www.kingsbaysports.leagueapps.com) under “Rules.”       Rules:  This league will utilize USA Ultimate Frisbee rules and regulations.               1.     Initiate Play: Each point begins with both teams lining up on the front of their respective end zone line. The defense throws ("pulls") the disc to the offense. A regulation game has seven players per team.                2.     Scoring: Each time the offense completes a pass in the defense's end zone, the offense scores a point. Play is initiated after each score. The team that reaches 15 points first wins.  However if after 50 minutes a team has not reached 15 points, the team with the most points will be deemed the winner.                3.     Movement of the Disc: The disc may be advanced in any direction by completing a pass to a teammate. Players may not run with the disc. The person with the disc ("thrower") has ten seconds to throw the disc. The defender guarding the thrower ("marker") counts out the stall count from a distance of three meters.                 4.     Change of Possession: When a pass is not completed (e.g. out of bounds, drop, block, interception, stalled), the defense immediately takes possession of the disc and becomes the offense.                 5.     Substitutions: Players not in the game may replace players in the game after a score and during an injury timeout.                6.     Non-contact: No physical contact is allowed between players. Picks and screens are also prohibited. A foul occurs when contact is made.               7.     Fouls: When a player initiates contact on another player a foul occurs. When a foul disrupts possession, the play resumes as if the possession was retained. If the player committing the foul disagrees with the foul call, the play is redone.              8.     Self-Officiating: Players are responsible for their own foul and line calls. Players resolve their own disputes.              9.     Spirit of the Game: Ultimate stresses sportsmanship and fair play. Competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of respect between players, adherence to the rules, and the basic joy of play.     Scheduling:  Games will be played on Monday and Wednesday nights.  Games will begin at 1800, 1900 and 2000.  Game time is forfeit time.  Schedules will be available by Facebook (www.facebook.com/kingsbaysports), online at www.kingsbaysports.leagueapps.com and posted on the Sports’ bulletin board in the Fitness Complex lobby area.  If there are any changes to your team’s playing availability, notify the Sports Office by 1200 the Thursday prior to the week of the game so that schedules can be adjusted accordingly and posted on time.  This can be done in person at the Sports Office in the Fitness Complex or through email, to which a return email will be sent to verify that the notification was received.  Games will be forfeited otherwise and a forfeit fee will be assessed to the team.  Schedules will be posted by approximately 1200 on Friday prior to the week of games.  Playoffs will be double elimination playoff tournament.     Rosters:  Team rosters should be submitted at the Captains Meeting.  Rosters must include captains and assistant captain’s name and contact information, players name, rank, command, affiliation and waiver signature.  Any days or dates that your team is NOT available for play, should be noted on the back of the roster.  The majority of players on a team must be from the same unit, department, organization or company.  Teams found in violation, will not be eligible to receive Captain’s Cup points.  Roster changes must be submitted to the Sports Office in writing by 1200 on the day of play.  Rosters will freeze after week 4 of the regular season.  NO new members may be added after the roster freezes.  Roster will not be accepted without complete information.  There is a team fee $50, which must be paid before the team’s first game.  Failure to pay the team fee will result in removal from the league.       Eligibilty:  Eligibility for participation in the SUBASE Intramural Sports Program is outlined in the BUPERSINST 1710.11C and includes active-duty, active-duty family members (18 years and older), retirees, DoD employees, and civilians.  All participants will be required to show their Subase ID card (or driver’s license for civilians) prior to playing.  Players may only play for one team.  If a team forfeits out of the league, the player(s) on that team can play for another team.  If a command has no team and there are players who desire to play, they may play for another command.    Forfeits:  A forfeit occurs when a team does not have enough (6) eligible players at the start of the scheduled game.  After one forfeit, the team will not be scheduled for games until the coach notifies the Sports Office as to why they forfeited.  Upon the second forfeit, the team will be removed from the league.  They can be reinstated after the coach notifies the Sports Office of their desire to continue playing.  If a team has more than two forfeits they will be removed from the league.  If a team or command has an emergency (short-notice) military commitment and cannot make their game, they should notify the Sports Office as soon as possible by NLT 1200 the day of the game.  The team that does not forfeit will automatically receive the win if they game cannot be made up at a later date.     Sportsmanship:  Intramural Sports expects all participants to be respectful to one another, follow all Intramural Sports policies and have fun.  If there are any major discrepancies or serious unsportsmanlike behavior the team is subject to REMOVAL from the league WITHOUT reimbursement of their league fee.    Protests:  Teams filing a protest must do so in writing to the MWR Sports Office NLT 1200 the following business day.  Intent to protest should be noted on the score sheet.
