Eligibility

Rosters

Team captains are required to submit team rosters by the Wednesday before the season begins. Team rosters may be modified up until the fourth week of regular season. Roster changes must be submitted by NOON of game day in order for the player to be eligible for participation. The only exception: players may be added on-site to a team’s roster during the team’s FIRST game of the season. The captain may submit the request by noon via email; however, the player must sign the waiver prior to participating. At noon on the Friday of the fourth week of regular season, all rosters will freeze, and captains will no longer be able to modify rosters.

All players on a team’s roster will be eligible for participation in playoffs given there are no sportsmanship/ineligibility issues.

When a league is labeled "CAPTAINS' CUP," the team's roster may only have two players on the team's roster outside the team's affiliated command.

Ineligible Participants

Ineligible participants include: Active Duty military members who are not associated with NSB Kings Bay, family members of DoD Employees of NSB Kings Bay, anyone without a valid NSB Kings Bay ID card, and/or any player deemed ineligible by the Sports Coordinator or MWR staff. Exceptions may apply if it is an Extramural Tournament, TriBase Tournament, or special event.

Restrictions

Participants may only play on one league for each season. If a player is signed up on two teams in the same league, that player will be deemed ineligible until the player is removed from all but one roster. If the player continues to play on the second team, he will be suspended from league play for a minimum of two games, and he will be required to meet with the Sports Coordinator. Additionally, the team playing with the ineligible player will forfeit the game automatically. Player ineligibility protests must be made on site, before or during the game. The suspected ineligible player will be required to show his base ID to compare to the team roster. Protests made after the game finished will not affect the outcome of the game. However, the Kings Bay Sports staff will investigate the player’s eligibility to ensure the situation does not reoccur.

Protests

Player Eligibility

As mentioned previously, player eligibility protests must be made before or during the game. The suspected ineligible player will be required to show his base ID to compare to the team roster. Protests made after the game finished will not affect the outcome of the game. Because we do not check players in for each game, we will not allow protests once the game has finished. However, if brought to the staff’s attention, the Kings Bay Sports staff will investigate the player’s eligibility to ensure the situation does not reoccur.

The head official during the game will document any player eligibility protests on the game verification form.

Rule Interpretation

If a team wishes to protest the interpretation of a rule by an official, the captain must verbally announce his protest to the lead official PRIOR to the next play. The official must hear the captain say the words, “I want to protest.” Judgment calls cannot be protested. The lead official will then meet with his crew to determine the outcome of the play. If the captain wishes to continue his protest, despite the officials’ ruling, the official will document all the game details on the game verification form. From that point forward, the game will be played “under protest.” On the next business day, the Sports Coordinator will review the rule in question and make a final decision as to the protest. If the protest is found to be in favor of the captain who appealed the rule interpretation, the game will be replayed from the point of the protest forward. If the protest is found unacceptable, the game will be recorded as originally played.

If the captain does not say, “I want to protest,” prior to the next play, the team loses the right to protest.
