Game, Field, Players, & Equipment

The game will be played by teams of 9 players each – 8 field players and 1 goalie.
-
Each team must have a minimum of 6 players at the start of each game to start. Game time is forfeit time. Failure to provide 6 players at game time will result in a forfeit.

You may finish a game with less than 6 players as long as the referees determine you still have a chance to win, and no one’s safety/wellbeing is being compromised (injuries only, not sue to sportsmanship issues).

Each team has a designated captain. This person is the only person who is to approach officials throughout the game.

Prior to the game, there will be a coin toss between captains. The winner of the coin toss will choose which goal it will attack in the first half.

All players must wear matching colored jerseys. If teams do not have jerseys, pennies will be provided by Kings Bay Sports.

The goalkeeper must wear a different color jersey than every other player or referee on the field.
-
Players are REQUIRED to wear shin guards; however, shin guards will not be provided by Kings Bay Sports.

All jewelry must be removed prior to play. Players may only wear soft, pliable pads on legs, knees, or ankles.

Cleats must be rubber – no metal allowed.

Game balls will be provided.

Periods, Time Factors, Substitutions
-

Games will consist of (2) twenty minutes halves. No extra time will be added for any reason.
-
The length of halftime will be five minutes.
-
The clock will run continuously with the exception of timeouts, injuries, and at the officials’ discretion.
-
There will be no overtime during regular season.
-
During the playoffs, we will use overtime.
-
First overtime will be three minutes of “Golden Goal” where the first team that scores win.
-
If no one scores during the first overtime period, we will utilize PKs. Each team will get 3 attempts from three different players.
-
If still tied, each team will alternate one shot until one team takes the lead.
-
Each team is allowed equal number of attempts.
-
The GK must remain the same throughout the entire time; however, he is allowed to shoot PKs.
-

Either team may substitute at any time during the start of a new half, after a goal is scored, or on a goal kick.
-
On throw-ins or corner kicks, the team in possession may substitute.
-
On throw-ins and corner kicks, the team without possession may only substitute if the team with possession initiates the substitution.

Scoring
-

If at half time or any time after, there is a 7-goal difference in the score, the game will be called at that point.
-
If within the last ten minutes, there is a 5-goal difference in the score, the game will be called at that point.
-
If within the last two minutes, there is a 3-goal difference in the score, the game will be called at that point.

Definitions of Playing Terms
-

During the kickoffs all players must be on their respective sides.
-
The kickoff must be played forward.
-
If the ball is not played forward, the kickoff shall be replayed.
-
-
There is a minimum 10 yard distance the defense must be away from the kickoff.
-
Following the kickoff, the ball must be touched by another player before the initial kicker may retouch the ball.
-
There will be NO off-sides.
-
There will be NO slide tackling.
-
Goalies:
-
The GK may play the ball with his hands only if the ball is inside the plane of the penalty box.
-
The GK may not play the ball with his hands if the ball is passed by their own teammate; however, heading the ball to the GK is acceptable.
-
The ball cannot be drop-kicked, thrown, or punted across half-field in the air by the GK.
-
The ball can be placed on the ground and kicked anywhere.

The GK CAN score.

Direct kicks will be award for the following:
-
Striking or attempting to strike an opponent
-
Holding an opponent
-
Pushing an opponent
-
Kicking or attempting to kick an opponent
-
Tripping an opponent
-
Charging an opponent in a violent/dangerous manner from behind
-
Intentionally handling the ball
-
Defensive players must give the kick 5 yards
-
The official will only mark this off if requested by the KICKER

Penalty Kicks

When a defensive player intentionally hands the ball in the goal box, the opponent will receive a PK

Yellow Cards
-
Two yellow cards results in an immediate ejection. Yellow cards may be given for the following:

Arguing/disputing an official’s ruling

Disrespecting an official
-
Excessive celebration
-
Slide tackling an opponent
-
Unsporting conduct directed toward opponent
-
Charging an opponent in a violent/dangerous manner
-
Intentionally handling the ball on defense inside the goalie box

Red Cards
-

Red cards result in an immediate ejection. Red cards may be given for the following:

Excessive arguing/disrespecting an official
-
Intentionally pushing or striking an opponent
-
Intentionally kicking or tripping opponent
-
Flagrant/malicious slide tackling
-
Flagrant unsporting behavior outside “the Spirit of Competition”
