Captain's Cup

Purpose. To establish guidelines and procedures for the implementation of the Captains’ Cup Program within Kings Bay Intramural Sports.   Background. Kings Bay Intramural Sports are intended to promote physical fitness and recreation by providing personnel the opportunity to participate in competitive and recreational sports on a voluntary basis. The goals of the Captains’ Cup program are to increase the number of teams registered and the number of participants on each team as well promote camaraderie, healthy competition, physical fitness, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Department heads, special assistants, and tenant commands are requested to encourage all hands to participate in this program.    Eligibility. All Active Duty personnel aboard Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay are eligible to participate in the Captains’ Cup program. Participants are required to play for their designated “club.” Each “club” is made up of specific tenant commands. A “club” may register more than one team for the Captains’ Cup program. For a precise list of “clubs,” please see Appendix A.   Each team is allowed three registered participants outside of the tenant commands listed for their “club.” The three external participants on the roster are required to be NSB Kings Bay Active Duty, Dependents, Reservists, Retirees, and/or DoD Employees.   There are some “clubs” comprised of both Active Duty personnel and DoD civilians. In order to qualify for the Captains’ Cup program, a team may have no more than two DoD civilians on the roster.   Each participant may only play on one team per league. Participants must be on the roster prior to play. Once a player has played for a specific team, he may not drop that team and play for another. This will result in an automatic forfeit for the secondary team. Participants may only change teams for two scenarios: they have yet to play in a game with a specific team, or their team drops out of the league (forfeiture due to unsportsmanlike behavior does not apply). Rosters will freeze at the end of the fourth week of regular season.   Responsibilities. The Sport Coordinator is responsible for the administration and operation of the Captains’ Cup program. The Sport Coordinator will maintain and update the website with pertinent Captains’ Cup information and results. Additionally, equipment for all sports may be checked out through the Sport Coordinator.   Each “club” is tasked with appointing a Club Sport Leader. This Club Sport Leader will be responsible for attending a meeting each January prior to the first season of the year. This person will also be tasked with communicating registration dates, league dates, league fees, league days/times, weather cancellations, etc. with all tenant commands that fall under his “club.” It will be the responsibility of the Sport Leader to check league results for any discrepancies. It is not required that the Club Sport Leader maintain the role as captain. Other Active Duty personnel are encouraged to take on the role as captain for their “club’s” team.   All participants will be expected to uphold the “Code of Conduct” established in the program Policies & Procedures. Failure to comply with the “Code of Conduct” may result in individuals and/or players being suspended or removed from the league.   All participants will be required to carry their Military ID at all times, and they are subject to ID checks by the officials and/or MWR staff before, during, and after a competition.
